Job opportunities galore for disabled youths

Over 200 specially-abled youths of the State can soon hope to get a job. The credit goes to Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS) and ACE that organized a Job Fair exclusively for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) at Sri Krishna Institute of Public Administration (SKIPA) on July 6 and 7.
As many as 250 youngsters of the category holding a minimum educational qualification of matriculation turned up and registered themselves for the ‘job of their choice’.
“It is a unique initiative in Jharkhand. We registered the detailed application forms of specially-abled youngsters from Ranchi and other districts. Initially, a batch of 40 candidates keen to learn professional tips will be trained by us in collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and JSDMS for a period of two months. In the third month, they will be placed in a company for a month long On-Job Training,” said ACE president Captain S Ravi.
“Depending upon their performance, companies may absorb them else we will ensure their placement,” Ravi added.
Interestingly, ACE is empowering PWDs in various parts of the nation under a campaign named ‘Take One Mission’ and has provided jobs to thousands of PWDs through similar fairs and trainings in West Bengal, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.“The training is a pilot project and would commence at the State capital after World Youths Skills Day scheduled on July 15.  Those not included in the training will be informed about the job offers from time to time,” said Abhijeet, an employee of JSDMS.
Meanwhile, the youths in the fair while interacting with this correspondent denoted the fair ‘a ray of hope’ in their life. “I have recently completed my graduation in History from Doranda College. life has been challenging with disability. It worsened after my father’s death. I have worked in an Institute for two years during my college life. If given an opportunity, I would like to undergo the training and work in a front office desk or BPO,” said Pratima Kachhap, a resident of Namkom. Kachhap is also applying for government jobs inviting people of their category.
For Bipin Prajapati, a B.Com pass-out of Ramgarh College, a job in the retail sector will serve the purpose of attending the fair. “We were registered and also counseled on career options here. I have participated in a two month workshop titled Youth for Job in my hometown. The certificates of the workshop and graduation are enough to get into a reputed private form,” he said.
