Urban Development Minister CP Singh said on Monday that the compulsions of job and the compulsion to arrange bread for himself and his family for journalists keep media away from truth.  He said that the fact was not only applicable to media but also all sections of the society.

Singh, while addressing a gathering during the unveiling of Cleanmedia’s research journal here, said that nobody talks the truth and if truth were spoken people would get angry and even his Assembly seat would be in peril. Singh was speaking in a seminar on ‘Media’s Role in development of Jharkhand’ organised by The Cleanmedia Foundation and SEC.

“Media is being considered as a product now. Whatever the owner wants it is done. But, if media and people from all sections of society start doing works as per their responsibilities properly then the benefits will be visible,” he said adding that if politicians speak the truth about media and judicial system then their career will be finished.

Veteran journalist Balbeer Dutt said on the occasion that media was doing so many things and it is capable of doing so many things but for this it needs mass support. “It is not possible that media will lead revolution and people remain bystanders because media derives its powers from people,” he said.

CCl CMD Gopal Singh media should honestly report the truth but it should avoid poking and digging without facts. Cleanmedia Foundation president Sudhakar Dikshit said on the occasion that media was trying it’s best to bring out the truth very honestly but due to business constraints journalists are not able to use their pen with full freedom. He advised to bring changes in media institutions for clean journalism.
