Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) supremo and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has charged the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the main Opposition in the State, for acting in connivance with the BJP-led coalition Government.
Speaking on the sidelines of the party’s executive committee meeting on Monday, Marandi termed the ‘understanding’ a dangerous trend for the State. “JMM is working in close coordination with the Raghubar Das Government of the BJP. That is why the leader of Opposition calls on the Chief Minister frequently and he, in turn, goes and meets senior JMM party leaders,” he said.
Marandi’s jibe has come in the backdrop of series of recent meetings having taken place between JMM leader Hemant Soren and Chief Minister Raghubar Das in which the former officially demanded better accommodation for ailing party patriarch Shibu Soren. Hemant had also objected to the high rise coming up near the bungalow of the senior Soren keeping “his security and privacy in mind.” Das, on his part, assured and wrote letters to lok Sabha Housing committee for bigger accommodation for Shibu in Delhi and also paid a visit to his wife Rupi Soren who was recovering in New Delhi.
later in his presidential address while throwing the executive committee meet open at an Assembly hall, Marandi vowed to kick start struggle on burning issues. “There is massive malpractice involved into ration and kerosene distribution in the State. Ration cards have been given to well-off families whereas genuine poor families have been left out. It is astonishing that the Government claims that it has covered majority of beneficiaries under the Food Security Act,” added Marandi, addressing party office bearers coming from across the State.
Party’s legislative body leader Pradeep Yadav stressed on rejuvenating the organisation. “Struggle on streets is required on several issues affecting the common man in the State. We have to sharpen the organisation a bit more. Our workers have become rusty. We have hosts of issues in hand and the workers at the grassroot level should be ready to take those forward,” said Yadav.
The executive committee, which is meeting after five months, is slated to discuss vacant top positions into the party on Tuesday, besides decision on contesting Godda Assembly by-election.
Also, it has been decided that organisational election at block and district levels would be completed by April. It would be followed by a big party conclave for the election of JVM president.
