JMM urges Speaker to take action against BJP MLAs

The JMM has strongly criticized the opposition party in the State BJP for displaying alleged negative attitude during the ongoing session of the assembly.

As the monsoon session of the assembly started from September 3, the BJP MLAs stayed away from reading obituary notes which is an established parliamentary practice.

The BJP is unhappy with the Assembly Speaker for not recognizing Babulal Marandi as the leader of the opposition. BJP MLAs claimed that as per the rule from the treasury bench the leader of opposition reads an obituary note.

The JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya criticized the BJP for starting a wrong tradition. “The BJP has become a herd of sheep that obeys nobody’s command. Its leaders and MLAs can go in any direction. What else can be said about a party which is unable to elect its leader in the last one and half year?” said Bhattacharya at a press conference. He said that from the day after tomorrow the Assembly session will discuss serious issues of Jharkhand.

“But if the opposition continues to behave this way then one can predict the future of Jharkhand. It is very shocking that during the condolence note when people kept silence; the BJP MLAs were creating disturbance. Even the Assembly Speaker was forced to say that one day the house will pay tribute to us,” he said.

He demanded from the Speaker to take action against such BJP MLAs and they must tender their apology on the floor of the house.

“And if they don’t apologize then the speaker should exert his right under law to take action against them. Jharkhand will not tolerate such kind of act,” he said. He also questioned the BJP raising objection over a separate place has been dedicated for Muslim MLAs to offer namaz on the assembly premise. Referring to parliamentary history of India and Indian constitution; Bhattacharya said that religious freedom is enshrined in the constitution. He said that the country has the history of all religious prayer.

“A separate place is dedicated in the parliament for prayer. Assembly buildings of all states have separate places for such prayers,” he said.
