The JMM legislative meeting was held today where the party MLAs decided to be part of Mahagathbandhan (Grand alliance) so as to defeat BJP in upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly election in the year-end.
JMM MLAs who participated in the meeting unanimously decided to be part of grand alliance. The party leaders also apprised Hemant Soren the party’s executive president to take a final decision on the issue. Party MLA, Nalin Soren said, “The party in larger interest has decided to be part of grand alliance so as to defeat BJP in Lok Sabha and assembly elections.” Sources said that a meeting of grand alliance leaders is likely to be held by end of this week in Delhi where all four constituents of grand alliance—Congress, JMM, JVM(P) and RJD will participate.
Though the JMM has decided to be part of Grand Alliance, the all four constituents are yet to decide on seat sharing formula. Sources said that the main hurdle behind finalising the seat sharing formula is Congress strong tactics bargaining for more seats.
The grand alliance leaders have decided to make Congress as the face in the general elections, while the JMM will be alliance face in the state elections. Congress will be in the role of big brother in general elections, while JMM will get more seats in assembly elections.
Sources said that Congress strong posturing as the big brother in the alliance gains importance as the party is in cloud nine after winning Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, also the Kolebira by-election result has come as an added advantage for the party.
