JMM targets Centre over silence on Hindenburg report

Published on:

A day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed the coalition government in Jharkhand as the “most corrupt” government in the country, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Sunday attacked Shah and his party BJP for keeping mum on Hindenburg report on Adani group. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, JMM General Secretary cum party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya asked why BJP leaders are silent over the Hindenburg report.

Supriyo said that Amit Shah was accusing the coalition government of corruption. “The BJP and Amit Shah should tell people why Adani is in such a condition today? Due to the report and resultant fall in the share prices of Adani group the situation of SBI and LIC is getting affected? For the last one year we have been hearing the names of ED, CBI, Income Tax, so why is this investigating agency silent today. The ED officials should go to Gujarat and Mumbai today to probe the scam,” he said.

Attacking the Adani group, Supriyo said that Hindenburg, an American financial research company, in its 103-page report questioned the working style of the Adani group. The report claimed that the Adani group has been involved in stock manipulation and account fraud for decades. Due to this, Indian banks and LIC investing in Adani's companies have also suffered a setback. Investors are also worried. There was a lot of uproar in the Parliament regarding this issue. BJP leaders should go ahead and demand an inquiry into the whole matter. The JMM leader has demanded that the Supreme Court should take cognizance of this financial scam and initiate an impartial inquiry into it, he said.

Taking a dig at the recent visits of BJP leaders to Jharkhand, the JMM said that in the 2019 assembly elections, the people of the state showed the BJP the way out of power. Since then there was a distraction among the BJP leaders. The distraction is how to enter Jharkhand again. Bhattacharya said, BJP got finished in Kolhan in the elections and got a befitting reply from Santhal too. Now it seems that the whole of Jharkhand wants to be free from BJP. This is the reason why Union Home Minister Amit Shah is continuously visiting Jharkhand.

Bhattacharya said that the land where the Nano Fertilizer plant will be set up, earlier soap was made there, which belonged to the Tata group. Later, when the company merged with another multinational company, the land came to JIADA. The game started in 2016 on the same ground. The land was transferred to a particular person. Then the target was set as to how to bring it to the Cooperative Department, so that it is used by the Central Government, but it is beneficial for a particular person.
