Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya today gave a sharp reply to the allegations of BJP on the permanent DGP appointment issue in the State. In a press conference held at the party office in Ranchi, Bhattacharya said that Babulal Marandi was thinking that he would become the Chief Minister of the state, but when this dream was shattered, he is now questioning every decision of the government. He also reminded that Babulal Marandi was the first Chief Minister of the State and many important decisions were taken during his tenure as well.
Bhattacharya said that many state governments select the Director General of Police on their own will, this is not only in Jharkhand but the same process is in other states as well. Even in BJP ruled states, the government itself appoints the Director General of Police, then why are questions being raised on the decision of the Jharkhand government? Giving an example, he said that this is the tradition in South Indian states as well. She further said that earlier the Jharkhand government used to send three names, and one of them was selected, but now this process has been stopped.
Taking a jibe at Babulal Marandi, he said that you have got the mandate to sit in the opposition, so you should remain in that role. Bhattacharya hit back at Babulal Marandi by referring to the Supreme Court and said, "You talk about the Supreme Court, but the Supreme Court had also said that the BJP should appoint its state president. When you are not even able to decide a state president in your party, then where is this question coming from?"
