Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Wednesday, raised questions on the short notice issued for Haj, the holiest pilgrimage of the Muslim community and the party also targeted the Central Government and the Election Commission for the issue.
Addressing a press meet at the party headquarters JMM General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the Central Government issued a notice on May 7 and issued an order to report at Kolkata Airport on May 9. “Everyone knows that this is the most sacred journey of the Muslim community, in which people prepare for months. They gather their best friends and family. Even the family members drop the pilgrim to the airport. Now tell us how the railway tickets of the family members will be confirmed in a day,” he added.
“The fourth phase of elections in the country and the first phase in Jharkhand are to be held on May 13. So should it be understood that this short notice has been issued so that the Muslim community does not exercise its franchise? The Election Commission had also said that along with the elections, festivals also have to be observed. Now surely the Election Commission will also be aware of this matter. This is definitely an act of playing with religion and religious sentiments,” said Bhattacharya.
The Party General Secretary said that with the third phase of voting in the country, half of the elections have been completed. “According to the reports coming in, Modi and BJP are losing the elections. Modi and his leaders, who were already issueless, have now become even more directionless. Therefore, now the buffaloes of the house will be taken away, a cricket team will be formed, temples will be locked, Hindus and Muslims will be attacked. Where PM Modi went two days ago, there was silence during his speech, but the enthusiasm, slogans and temperament shown in the meetings of India Alliance and Rahul Gandhi held in Chaibasa and Basia two days ago made it clear that what will be the situation in Jharkhand? BJP and its allies will not get even a single seat in Jharkhand,” he added.
Bhattacharya said that first the tickets were given to the criminals, accused and corrupt people of the Country and now Modi is roaming around asking for votes for them. “Lallu Singh in Adhoya openly said that if you give 400 seats, we will change the constitution. They are being included in the road show. By giving a ticket to the son of Braj Bhushan Singh, accused of sexually exploiting our Olympic medal winning sisters, they are asking for votes for him. They are asking for votes for the accused of sexual exploitation of hundreds of women,” he added.
The party General Secretary also said that Modi and BJP want to end the reservation of ST, SC and OBC. Modi and BJP should explain why reservation was given to EWS that too by cutting the reservation for ST, SC and OBC. “Under what circumstances did Babulal Marandi reduce the OBC reservation from 27 per cent to 14 per cent during his rule? Now the people of the country know everything,” he added.
Bhattacharya said why Babulal does not speak on Sarna religious code. “Why are you spoiling the atmosphere of Jharkhand by speaking nonsense? Seeing their certain defeat, these people are now making Hindus and tribals join BJP by wearing caps. The kind of news that is coming yesterday on the joining of BJP in the name of Muslim is a worrying and frustrating step. The names and addresses of those who joined have also started appearing. Hindus and tribals were made to join BJP by wearing caps. Therefore BJP should stop wearing caps,” he added.
