JMM questions intent of BJP's claim on RS poll

Taking a tough stand over the recent call of the BJP to let its candidate MJ Akbar get elected unopposed for the Rajya Sabha, leader of Opposition Hemant Soren questioned the basis on which the claim was made by the BJP. Soren, while talking to the media persons in Ranchi on Friday, also alleged that the BJP had been conspiring since beginning to increase its strength in Rajya Sabha which may also go to the extent of horsetrading to get the seat.
The BJP, holding Jharkhand Mukti Morcha responsible for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-elections in the state, had appealed the opposition parties on Thursday to cooperate in creating a healthy political environment in the state by letting its candidate get elected unopposed this time.“Have we violated any law of the land by fielding Haji Hussain Ansari as a Rajya Sabha candidate or is there any guarantee that their candidate will definitely get elected,”
questioned Soren. It is true that there is a BJP government in the state, but still it does not enjoy full majority among the masses, he added.BJP was trying bringing people from outside and hand over the entire state to them and there is no doubt that recent Rajya Sabha candidate MJ Akbar was a part of the same conspiracy, Soren said.“It is really unfortunate that people of such mentality are not allowing Adivasi-Moolwasi population of this state to flourish and their rights are fulfilled in real sense,” he added.
Referring to the mistakes committed earlier by fielding candidates like KD Singh and Premchand Gupta from outside, Soren said that the JMM has always tried to mend the mistakes done by them in the past but the BJP was doing one mistake after another.  “We will talk to all the 81 MlAs across the party line on this issue as all of us who belong to Jharkhand, should ponder and think over it. Politics of the state should not go into the hands of outsiders,” said Soren.
Soren also alleged that the BJP was conspiring to increase its strength in th Rajya Sabha for which it could even compromise with its policies and principles and for the same reasons it has taken the six JVM MlAs to its side.“If the JVM MlAs go for voting during the Rajya Sabha elections, we will oppose it and will also go to the court if needed,” said Soren.
