JMM open to support of like-minded parties

A day ahead of counting for the Jharkhand Assembly elections, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which is heading towards forming Government in the State according to the exit poll, hinted that the party can accumulate support of any likeminded party, organization and individuals to form Government in the State.

Addressing a press meet at the party headquarter, JMM General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that any likeminded party can be part of the JMM led Government in the State. “We think AJSU Party is also a likeminded party as it does politics on local issues and it is formed by the party Supremo Shibu Soren,” he added.

The statement is a clear signal that JMM can try to get support of AJSU Party also if the party fails to get a majority on its own. The exit polls have not given clear majority to JMM alliance.

“There is demand since last 10 years that elections should be conducted on ballot paper instead on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) because someone can tamper the EVM but the party has full faith on Election Commission of India. We raised several issues before the CEO regarding EVM supervision. We requested to the Deputy CEO to ensure that any person if there is need for maintenance of the machines, then it should be done in presence of all candidates,” said Bhattacharya.

Hitting hard on State Government, the party General Secretary said that the people voted against misrule of BJP led State Government and its Chief Minister, Raghubar Das. “Several decisions of the Chief Minister forced the voters to vote against BJP, be it closing of Government schools or local policies. The Chief Minister’s dictatorship will cost him dearly as he perturbed the local people in various ways. He brought an amendment proposal in Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Paragana Tenancy act, which hurt tribal sentiments,” he added.

The party is upbeat after exit poll shown by the electronics channels and preparing that the chance to form government will not be losing from the hands of the party.
