JMM, JVM corner coalition on Women's Day

Attacking the NDA Government in the State, former Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday called the announcement of free-driving licence to women as an eyewash. He said that only a small section of the society will get benefitted by the scheme. Soren, while talking to the mediapersons at his residence in Ranchi, also demanded implementation of 50 per cent reservation for the women in Government jobs as announced by the Government led by his party earlier.

“The coalition Government is trying to get away from its responsibilities by fulfilling the formalities on the occasion of Women’s Day. Announcements made by CM in the annual Budget for the empowerment of women are only eyewash as they are only an effort to keep them away from their rights,” said Soren.   Demanding the implementation of 50 per cent reservation for women against the Government’s recent announcement of 33 per cent reservation for them, Soren said that the women in the society deserve equal rights for them.

“By announcing 33 per cent reservation for the women, present Government is not only putting cold water on the efforts made by my Government but also conspiring against the women of this State,” said Soren. The issue will be raised by the Government on Monday both inside and outside the Assembly, he said. Soren also promised movement against the Government till 50 per cent reservation is assured in the Government jobs by it.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) also alleged the Government of promoting corrupt officials. Party MlA Pradeep Yadav alleged that officials having several charges of corruption are being given plum posts —like Principal Chief Conservator of Forests BC Nigam and Tenughat Viddhut Nigam limited (TVNl) MD Ram Avtaar Sahu.

“How can one expect a corruption-free Government which has appointed BC Nigam as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) against whom ADG (Vigilance) of Bihar seeks government’s approval for prosecution in five corruption cases registered against him,” he pointed out in a Press conference ahead of the Assembly session that will resume on Monday for discussion on annual Budget.
