JMM hits at BJP for levelling 'baseless allegations' in Mines Secy case

Published on:

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Saturday flayed BJP for its demand that Mines Secretary, Puja Singhal’s case should be investigated by CBI and Chief Minister, Hemant Soren should also resign. JMM MLA, Sudivya Kumar Sonu and party’s Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that  former Chief Minister, Raghubar Das had done the work of saving this officer involved in the alleged Momentum Jharkhand scam and MGNREGA scam.

Jointly addressing a press meet at the party headquarter Sonu and Bhattacharya said that the case, in which action has been taken against IAS officer Pooja Singhal is the case of 2008 and 2009 and there was a complaint filed against this in 2014. At that time Singhal was Khunti Deputy Commissioner (DC) but the media showed the proceedings of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as if this corruption happened only in the Hemant Government, they added.

Bhattacharya asked the BJP that Raghubar Das should tell how Singhal was given a clean chit on February 27, 2017 in the Khunti irregularities case of more than Rs 18 crores. A conspiracy is being hatched to defame the Hemant Soren Government by linking the ED's action in the MGNREGA loot case with mining operations, he added.

Sonu and Bhattacharya said that our party is against the protection of the corrupt. “At the time when Singhal was accused of scam, Raghubar Das' Government was there and the Chief Secretary was Rajbala Verma so she should also be made accused. Somewhere, in the whole matter, BJP Legislature Party Leader, Babulal Marandi is also responsible,” they added.

“When former Chief Minister, Arjun Munda had recommended an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) probe on the whole matter, how was it suppressed. After eight to 10 years, why is it being said again that Hemant Soren's Government is patronising corruption,” said Sonu.

On the action against IAS Officer, Singhal, the party’s Spokesperson said that till there is no official statement from the ED, the Government has limited options. Responding to a question on the Pulse Hospital land issue, he said that all such land plots, which come under the purview of CNT Act and which have been transferred wrongly, will be investigated, he added.
