If one thing that would be making Jharkhand Mutki Morcha nervous about Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s visit to Jharkhand it would be the fear of its leaders getting dwarfed by the mere presence of the PM. Fearing a repetition of the incident in Haryana the party has shot a letter to the PM asking to rein-in Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders during the programme to prevent “enactment” the scene at Ranchi.
The JMM looked very much concerned about Modi’s programme at Kaithal in Haryana where Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was jeered by the crowd assembled for the PM’s rally. Notably, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren is likely to share the podium with PM in the programme.
“We are very much concerned about what happened in Haryana and how the PM maintained silence over it. I would like to caution them that what happened in Haryana must not happen here and if it happens then it will far reaching consequences for the BJP,” said party Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya.
In the same letter the copy of which has been sent to the Home Ministry and Cabinet Secretary besides Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jharkhand, the party has asked to not allow people to carry symbols, banner or poster depicting a particular party. In a bid to ensure that any ill-treatment done to their leader the JMM has urged administration to unhesitatingly take actions against people involved.
“Strong actions must be taken against people behaving rudely in the programme,” added Bhattacharya. Meanwhile, preparations made by the State BJP has not been taken very kindly by the JMM. The JMM expressed reservations about the BJP’s preparedness to welcome their leader and also raised finger at expenses made by party to assemble crowd besides making arrangements of refreshments for people turning up to witness launching of centrally sponsored projects.
“The BJP has turned a government event into party’s event. It appears as if the PM is coming to attend an election rally. They have made arrangements for over a lakh people. Who is providing for their food and who has incurred the expenses of vehicles must be examined,” Bhattacharya said.
