Chief Minister Hemant Soren, staking claim to fight maximum number of seats during the forthcoming Assembly polls, has said that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is the strongest political party in the State having the highest number of legislators in the Assembly.
Soren was speaking at the JMM's two-day executive committee meeting being held here to decide on the possibility of alliance with the other like-minded parties for the upcoming assembly elections.
According to Soren, it is a great challenge for the JMM to ponder over alliance with different parties in order to prevent "communal forces" from capturing power in the State. "Our primary aim is to challenge communal forces. In the next two days, JMM will discuss stitching alliances with different parties with an open mind, said Soren.
Referring to the ruling alliance of Congress, JMM and RJD in the State, he said that present alliance could be continued in the Assembly elections also. He, however, said that the decision on seat sharing will be made after sitting together with the other two parties but at the same time also claimed that JMM is the strongest party having maximum number of seats in the Assembly.
Talking on the possibility of an alliance with Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, Soren said, "Though no proposal has been received so far from the other side, it will definitely be discussed if the issue is raised in the party's executive committee."
Rejecting the idea of any such experiment of forming a larger alliance in Jharkhand as being done in Bihar, Soren said that each state has its own situation and a uniform formula could not be applied everywhere. JMM leaders from every block and district as well as MlAs and MPs are attending the executive committee meeting being held at Manya Palace.
