JMM demands restoration of Mahto in Vidhan Sabha

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has demanded restoration of Vidhan Sabha membership of Gomia MlA Yogendra Mahto, as the party said that the decision of his disqualification was completely unconstitutional, uncalled for and taken in haste.

“The matter had to be brought into the notice of the Governor, who could have suggestions from the Election Commission, but the matter was directly forwarded to the Election Commission, which is unconstitutional,” said JMM MlA Kunal Sharangi here on Wednesday.

In article 191, it is clearly mentioned that membership of any member of the Assembly could not be withdrawn until it is done under the provisions made by the Parliament, which was simply not followed, he added.

“It is being done with political malice towards MlAs of the Opposition Parties by bringing forward the old cases against them by misguiding the courts,” said Sarangi. Mahto is a live example of it, whose conviction order passed on January 31, was stayed immediately on February 19 by a higher court, he added.

Talking about the allegations on Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma, Sarangi said that she will prove to be Nirav Modi of Jharkhand in the coming days.

Meanwhile, leader of Opposition and Acting President of JMM Hemant Soren said that the State Government has not only been playing with the sentiments of people but it is also pushing the State towards destruction. Soren was talking to the media persons at Birsa Munda Central Jail after meeting RJD Chief lalu Prasad on Wednesday.

Targeting BJP lead NDA Government in the State, Soren said that its corruption is now known not everyone and their policy is well understood only in the Country but also in the world as well.

Condition of the farmers in deteriorated a lot since 2014, he added.
