The one day dharna programmers in demand of declaring the district a drought affected area held by the district unit of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in front of district head office.
The programme was headed by the president Pinju Bhagat. In the programme Malay Dutta, Pradeep Rana, Ranthu Oraon, Bhikhram Bhagat, Sabir Kuraishi and Safiq Ansari were present chiefly.
Addressing the programme Pinju Bhagat said, “The Kharif crop of the district has been affected due to not having rainfall in time. Only 38 percents of the sowing work could be completed. So without delay the state should be declared as drought affected area and the farmers should be provided compensation.
Pradeep Rana said, “After declaration of the drought affected area the bauxite based industries should be established in the district. There should also be transparency in the development works. The programme was also addressed by Dubraj, Nageshwar Sahu and Ranthu Oraon etc.
After the dharna programme a demand letters of 18 points addressed to the CM was submitted to the DC.
The letters included the matters of demand of drought affected area, to establish bauxite based industries, to check the migration, to avail the employments, to exempt the farmers from paying the agriculture loan and many matters of health, irrigation and education. In the programme all the block heads and party members were present.
