JMM cries bias against tribals

Published on:

leader of Opposition Hemant Soren has brought tribal identity of the diseased police inspector Umesh Kacchap into fore who was founding hanging in mysterious circumstances few days ago at a police station of Topchanchi. Soren after visiting the aggrieved family on Tuesday termed the approach of the Government partial and inappropriate.

“We have seen families of policemen dying earlier getting petrol pumps, allotted lands and other assistances. But when a tribal policeman dies, his family is told to take loan for education for their children and repay home loans etc out of the financial aid given. This is grave insensitivity on the part of the Government,” said

Soren while addressing  mediapersons.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das had visited the family a day before and handed over cheque of Rs10 lakh and offered job to her wife. However, this could not satisfy the loP who put forth set of demands, including registering case against the suspects under the SC/ST Act, transfer of the SP, bear entire cost coming on the education of the children besides, ordering a CBI probe.

“The Government forms SIT to probe incident of car theft of CM’s advisor but there is no response to the cases like this. The assistance given by the CM is going to increase their grief even further. Even their demands were not heard patiently. We firmly believe that it was not a suicide but a murder and only adequate probe can bring the culprits before the justice,” said Hemant while terming the situation in the State as ‘gundaraj’ and threatened to approach the SC/ST Commission.

Coming on to the CM’s speech given at Dumka in BJP’s executive body meet, in which he had given a call for ‘JMM-free Jharkhand’, Hemant termed it an anti-tribal jibe. “I am happy that they talked about JMM more in their conclave. It shows that they are afraid of us. As far as making Jharkhand JMM-free is concerned, it is nothing more than a day dream of the BJP. JMM is a party that lives in heart and soul of the tribals and moolvasis of the State. It has been integral part of struggle for the pride of the tribals. In fact, the BJP wants to make Jharkhand tribal free,” he added.

Soren also questioned the BJP holding repeated programmes and frequent visits of the CM to Santhal Pargana and linked it to several industrial, power and mining projects coming up in the region. He also rapped the Government for misusing its machinery for Yoga, which he felt, is nothing to do with farmers, poor and women walking miles to fetch safe drinking water.
