The people of the city today upped their voice against food adulteration and supported  2014 batch IAS officer Bhor Singh Yadav, who recently spearheaded a trail of raids against the wrongdoers in the city. Dozens of people today took out a march in the morning at Morhabadi Ground holding placards in support of Ranchi Sub Divisional Officer Bhor Singh Yadav, while political parties like JMM extended their support to the officer.

The march was led by a group of volunteers and morning walkers at Morhabadi ground on Monday morning who contended that the recent raids conducted by the SDO against food adulteration was a much needed step and they stand against food adulteration. They stated that the city has got a serious officer who is working day and night against the wrongdoers so there need not be any resentment among people against him.

The volunteers staged a march around the ground and stood near Mahatma Gandhi statue holding placards with messages like ‘Bhor Singh aage Badho hum tumhare saath hain (Bhor Singh go ahead; we are with you), Milawatkhoron saawdhan, Bhor Singh aa gaye hain (Adulterators beware, Bhor Singh is here) etc.

Political parties such as the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the CPI also came in support of the SDO, saying that the trade and business organizations are trying to protect the adulteration racket by protesting against Yadav, who is doing his duty honestly. JMM General Secretary Vinod Pandey said that the SDO is doing what is needed to be done much before. “The government in connivance with trade bodies is trying to protect food adulterators, middlemen and all the wrongdoers. It is also trying to protect those, who want to disturb peace in the city. That is why some people are coming out to complain of stomach ache.”

He said that his party was with the IAS officer who is trying to discharge his duties earnestly despite all odds. The CPI also came down heavily on the trade body FJCCI, saying that it was trying to protect the interests of food adulterators by complaining against the SDO. “The working style of the officer may be questioned but not his works,” said a statement of the party.

Incidentally, the Ranchi University PG students union also came in support of Yadav. The Union stated in a statement that the actions of the SDO have frightened the wrongdoers in the city that is why they want his transfer pressurizing the government. If any individual or a business organization conspires against the SDO, the students union will stage protest in all colleges and launch a huge campaign, it said.

Meanwhile, a delegation of traders representing FJCCI met Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar today and registered  complaints against SDO Bhor Singh Yadav. They said that the working style of the SDO was not only unlawful but it was also frightening the business fraternity.
