Main Opposition party of the State Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has invited like-minded parties to support the call to observe ‘black day’ on November 8.
The party, in order to denounce the demonetisation move of the Centre taken a year ago, has also decided to protest at all district headquarters across the State.
The party alleged that entire country was stunned at the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 last year and termed it as totally impractical and the one that has gone on proving disastrous for one and all.
“None of the purposes laid down then has been served so far. Now, the BJP is going to celebrate the call given but we fail to understand whyIJ Is the celebration for those who were killed standing in queues, or for those whose children who died in hospitals in the want of proper treatment or for lakhs of people who went out of job or for the small industries that shut down,” asked JMM general secretary Vinod Pandey in a press conference called on Monday.
The party along with protesting against the note-ban would also oppose the GST implemented across the country.
“Our party is going to organise protests and observe ‘black day’ against the demonetisation and GST regime across all the district headquarters on November 8. Our partymen would apprise common people about the repercussions of the shortsighted decisions made by the BJP-led Government. We also seek support of parties like Congress, JVM, RJD, the left parties and others into this. They should come and join the programme so that our voice can reach the Government in a unified manner,” said the JMM leader.
Hitting out at the ruling BJP further, Pandey said that the party’s jubilation was inversely proportional to the mood of the common man who are feeling let down in the hands of the current dispensation.
The Congress, at the same time, has assigned responsibilities to its district level leaders to observe the day on Wednesday. AICC member and in-charge of party affairs in the State RPN Singh along with his two deputies would remain present during the protests which include formation of human chains during the day while candle marches would be organised in the evening.
Other parties such as Samajwadi Party and RJD have also planned to burn effigy of the Government protesting against the twin decisions made.
