Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today began its two-day working committee meeting on Saturday to introspect humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha elections and at the same time chalk out future strategy for upcoming general election for the State Assembly elections which scheduled to held in end of the year.

JMM was part of four parties’ Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) set up against BJP led NDA. But, when the results were out, it was shocking and humiliating for entire Mahagathbandhan especially for the JMM. The party had contested four seats—Dumka, Rajmahal, Jamshedpur and Giridih, but the party won only Rajmahal seat, the JMM was not even able to save its bastion in Santhal as JMM patriarch Shibu Soren lost to BJP’s Sunil Soren from Dumka.

JMM candidate from Giridih parliamentary seat, Jaggarnath Mahto said that the party has demanded report from all district presidents and block presidents about present condition of the party in their respective areas.

The parry will contest the State assembly election in alliance with other parties or not it is also discussed during the meeting. JMM has 19 members in the State Assembly out of total strength 81 and it is main Opposition party in the State.

“What will be the future strategy of the party and the party will raise which issues prominently is discussed during the meeting. It is too early to say that the party will contest the lection alone or with partner,” said Mahto.

JMM is first party of Grand Alliance, which has started preparation for the State Assembly election as other partners like Congress, JVM and RJD is facing problem of infighting in its state unit.
