JMM-BJP lock horns over delay in opening of AIIMS Deoghar

Politics over the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Deoghar has intensified with the Opposition targeting the ruling alliance over alleged delay in opening of the hospital and the ruling parties retaliating with jibes.

Releasing a video on Sunday, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) General Secretary and Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that Jharkhand has given 250 acres of land to the Centre for the construction of the medical institution. “The State Government had provided labour to its share which it had to allocate for its construction. Despite this, other BJP leaders including Babulal Marandi and Godda MP, Nishikant Dubey are doing trivial politics even during the Corona period. Only the Centre and BJP leaders are responsible for the delay in starting OPD services at the hospital,” he added.

Bhattacharya said that AIIMS was established for the first time in the Country in 1956. “Along with this, provisions related to its establishment were also made. There was talk of providing high quality health facilities to the people at affordable rates. But right now, politics is going on in Jharkhand regarding this. The OPD building is ready but people are not getting the benefit due to the delay in its inauguration. People of Santhal Pargana and its surrounding areas are waiting for the functioning of the institutions,” he added.

“The virtual inauguration of the OPD was scheduled to take place on 26 June. But on June 24, the Central Government decided to cancel this programme. This has been done only to satisfy the ego of BJP leaders. The Health Department of the State Government was constantly in touch with the Centre. The date was fixed for the inauguration 2-3 times. But even on June 26 this was not done. The State Government has also asked the Director, Registrar of AIIMS several times in this regard from its level, but it was ignored. Instead of these facts, BJP leaders are engaged in spreading confusion among the people,” said the party Spokesperson.

Bhattacharya also said that BJP leaders including Dubey and Marandi are constantly alleging that the State Government was deliberately negligent in the matter of starting AIIMS and airport service in Deoghar.

Both the leaders said that like the ruling political party, the Deoghar district administration has been working sluggishly in this matter, he added..
