JMM, Cong intensify preparation for bypolls

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) have intensified preparation for the bypolls in two State Assembly constituencies-Dumka and Bermo after announcement of Election Commission of India (ECI), in which it decided to conduct all 65 by-elections around Bihar Assembly elections, which will be held before November 29 of this year.

Out of total 83 constituencies in the State, bypolls for Dumka and Bermo were necessitated due to Dumka seat vacated by Chief Minister, Hemant Soren because he won from two seats Dumka and Barhait, after taking oath as Chief Minister he retained Barhait and resigned as MLA from Dumka. Former Minister in the State Government and Bermo MLA, Rajendra Prasad Singh's death necessitated a bypoll in Bermo.

According to the seat sharing formula among alliance partners of Mahagathbandhan, JMM will get Dumka seat and Congress will get Bermo seat. Both the partners have intensified their preparation to retain their seats.

JPCC Chief and Food Supply Minister, Rameshwar Oraon visited Bermo in the second week of July to launch poll preparation of his party from the seat. JPCC Spokesperson, Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo said that the party has started its preparation to retain the seat one and half months earlier.

JPCC Chief visited Bermo in July and held a meeting with local workers of the party to chalk out a strategy for the election, he added.

"On August, 2 the party also held a meeting in leadership of JPCC Chief to review the ongoing preparation work for the election.

During the meeting former the State BJP former Women Wing Vice President, Nitu Singh had joined Congress with her large numbers of supporters," said Shahdeo.

It is clear that both the alliance partner will put their all effort to retain their seats. JMM also started booth level preparation very early. JMM Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattachrya said that JMM is ready to contest the election since the day when Chief Minister had resigned from the seat.

"Dumka has been the traditional seat of the party and except one or two instances the party won the seats from its inception.

It has been tradition of the party without announcement of the date of the election the party not announce the name of its candidate. As soon as the date will be announced the candidate's name will also be announced by the party," said Bhattachrya.

Out of total 83 member house JMM has 29 members and Congress has 14 members, two MLAs Bandhu Tirkey and Pradeep Yadav won election as Jharkhand Vikas Morcha candidates later also joined Congress.
