With sudden change in temperature, the denizens in the state capital may also witness hailstorms in the coming days, apart from cloudy sky and fall in temperature. The sudden change in weather is the result of Western Disturbances (WD) and upper air circulation in Southern Madhya Pradesh.
Citing details about the present weather condition, Forecast Officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi, Upendra Srivastava, said, “There is a sudden fall in temperature which can also lead to hailstorms at isolated places in Jharkhand on January 19 and January 20. The weather condition will slightly improve bringing fall in temperature to 2 to 3 degree celsius. Temperature will drop only after January 21.”
Mentioning about the prime cause in sudden temperature fall, Srivastava, further added, “Due to WD and upper air circulation in Southern Madhya Pradesh is affecting the present scenario and climatic condition in Jharkhand. The variation in climate will not remain for the longer period and only after that weather condition will come into its normal pace.”
The situation may also affect the Rabi crop cultivation in the state. According to Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) agromet expert, A Wadood, “The climate variation will hamper the growth of Rabi crops in the state. Minimum temperature should be around 10 degree celsius or even below whereas maximum temperature should be 20 degree or below, if it varies then it will influence the growth and development of Rabi crops and plants.”
On the other hand, the general physicians also suggest certain precautionary measures. “Constant change in temperature may cause serious health issues among the people. The worst suffers in this weather change are infants and seniors citizens,” informed Dr Kiran of Sadar Hospital.
