Acknowledging its efforts to take the help of e-governance for all round growth and development of the State, the Union Government has placed Jharkhand among ‘Top Performing States’ of the country. In an event which is scheduled on Wednesday in Mumbai to honour those States, Information Technology Department Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal will accept the honour on behalf of Jharkhand.
A letter sent to the State in this regard by president and CEO of National e-governance Division (NeGD) S Radha Chouhan said that Jharkhand has been selected for special award under top performing States.
Elaborating as to how Jharkhand secured a position among top, Barnwal said that the Government has taken a number of initiatives which helped the State to become a front runner. “In over last one year and half, we focused extensively on e-office, which will ultimately help offices become paper-free. We promoted start-ups in IT industry and helped them grow exponentially. We launched a number of mobile apps to ease processes at Government level. Then, we started a number of skill development programmes for industries and citizens, and I can say that Jharkhand is much ahead of many states if steps like this are taken in account,” Barnwal said.
Barnwal will also take part in a two-day seminar scheduled on 8-9 June in BSE International Convention Centre in Mumbai. A thorough discussion on issues related to electronics, manufacturing, digital services, connectivity and other services and aspects of Digital India is scheduled to take place in the seminar, which is being organised by CEOs Association of Inclusive India and Scotch Group with support of DeitY.
