A sub-zonal commander of the banned Maoist outfit Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) Bhavani Bhuiyan alias Bhagirithi surrendered before Palamu range DIG R K Lakra, DC Shashi Ranjan, SP Chandan Kumar Sinha and additional SP K Vijay Shankar in Daltonganj on Sunday.
Bhuiyan, the surrendered Naxal, was not carrying any reward on his head but he laid down his one Insas rifle, three magazines, 83 rounds of live fire, 36 high explosive grenades, camping equipment, letter heads of the JJMP and two pouches for the ammunition.
Palamu SP, Chandan Kumar Sinha said, “The surrendered Naxal Bhagirithi was not carrying any reward on his head as declared by State Government, but he provided with Rs 1 lakh as part of state surrender policy as the surrendered Naxal possessed Insas rifle and other deadly arms and ammunitions.”
The surrendered naxal who comes from the village Hutar and had five cases against him one of it in the Garhwa district. DIG police Palamu R K Lakra said the surrender of the sub zonal commander is big jolt to JJMP.
Lakra said Jharkhand state naxal surrender policy is attractive and more advantageous to the naxals in comparison to the other states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh etc which too have surrender policy for Left Wing Extremist.
SP Palamu Chandan kr Sinha was all praise for the additional SP, K Vijay Shankar and Officer in charge of Ramgarh police station Prabhat. The Additional SP and Ramgarh OC worked tirelessly convincing Bhagirathi for laying down arms and to join the main stream. He said it took our boys one and a half months for getting this sub zonal commander to surrender.
Sources said this surrender first of 2022 was after four years as the last naxal to surrender was Israel.
SP said naxals when get a tip off about any of their cadre going to surrender, spread a calculated lie that police would kill soon after surrender or would leave the naxal to die a death of shame and in deprivation and this sub zonal commander Bhagirathi had a similar cacophony of lies of harassment and torture coming from police but our officers K Vijay Shankar and Officer in charge Ramgarh police station Prabhat saw that Bhagirithi did not fluctuate or waver in his decision to surrender.
Bhagirathi told mediapersons that JJMP has still 40 cadres some of them armed with AK 56 and AK 47.
About Pappu Lohra the self styled commander of the JJMP, Bhagirathi said he had not much information about him as his interaction with Lohra less.
