A 24-year-old jilted lover stabbed a girl to death and also injured her mother when she tried to protect her daughter at Hardiyamo village under Gomia police station here late on Sunday evening.
According to police, Ravindra Manjhi (24) entered the house of Ankita Kumari (17), where her father and mother were present.
He stabbed Ankita and when her mother tried to protect her, he stabbed her mother too, police said.
Sources said that Ankita Kumari succumbed to her injuries at Gomia hospital in Bokaro, while her mother is undergoing treatment and stated to be out of danger now, police said.
According to police sources, Ankita and Ravindra Manjhi were known to each other for some time.
Ravindra wanted to marry Ankita but she had denied and therefore, he was annoyed with her.
After the incident, the accused escaped and police were trying to trace him arresting, police said.
Police said that the girl was declared brought dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
She sustained stab injuries on her neck and stomach.
The accused attacked on her by traditional weapon and girl died soon after, said the Officer-in Charge.
