In order to bring excellence in the functioning of security forces and nurture local youths to join security forces, a Raksha Shakti University (RSU) is to be established soon in the vicinity of the state capital Ranchi. located within a campusof 25 acres of land, total intake capacity of the University will be around 300-500 students every year.
“Special care will be taken for Internet, central library, Gymnasium, Yoga centre, parade ground, sports, and other physical activities besides giving them administration, academic, computer, hostel facilities,” said an official of the State Government requesting anonymity. It intends to develop an institution of security science and management in the State, he added.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar laid the foundation stone of the varsity on Saturday at the occasion of birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Although it is scheduled to get started in two years time, Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that the Raksha Shakti University would commence from the year 2016-17 itlself from a rented building.
Parrikar has assured full cooperation to Jharkhand in defence sector and for the establishment of the defence university. According to the Defence Minister, modern day defence was not all about strength but it was all about brains, in the wake of threats of cyber attacks around the world.
The university being established in Jharkhand will be the third such university in Country after Gujarat and Rajasthan. Funds for the university will be raised from grants, loan and contributions received from state, centre and other sources.
Besides prescribing courses for study and holding examination, publishing results and conferring degrees, diplomas and other distinctions, coaching and training will also be provided for recruitment in Central Security Forces, State Police Service and Jharkhand Industrial Security Force. The pass students may also have jobs in other public and private sectors.
The University will too have the facility for research work in field of security science and management. Directorate General and Chairman of the RSU will be appointed by the State Government.
The University will
have its own authorities like Board of Governors, Academic Council and other Finance Committee etc.
