Jharkhandi sets remind me of 'Paan Singh Tomar': Sah

Supporting roles of appreciated Bollywood movies are rarely forgotten. 34-year old Ravi Sah, who played the role of nephew Balram in actor Irrfan Khan’s widely acclaimed  movie Paan Singh Tomar is one such name. The Bihar based actor is shooting for Jharkhand’s Palamau film maker Sriram Dalton’s feature film Spring Thunder. Dalton’s film The lost Behrupiya won the Rajat Kamal under best arts/ cultural film at 61st National Film Awards 2013.

Sharing the association with Dalton, Sah after the first schedule completion of Spring Thunder on Monday in various parts of this State, said that he made a mark in the film industry with Paan Singh Tomar and his ongoing project reminds him the days of this first entry to the Bollywood fraternity.

“I am playing the role of a young tribal leader named Suresh lakra. For this role, I was in Jharkhand for past one month to get into the role of this character totally. In the meantime, I stopped wearing dresses I used to wear in Mumbai where I had been staying since a long time. It was worth learning the local dialects and interacting with the people. Shooting in Netarhat, Daltonganj and Garhwa reminded of Paan Singh’s set at Dholpur, 65 kilometers from Agra city where the crime rate is high. The deserted look of these Jharkhand places resembles to Dholpur,” he told The Pioneer.

Sah, who is an alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), is very much inspired from Irrfan Khan. Asked how, he said, “While shooting for Paan Singh Tomar, I was inspired by Irrfan Khan’s acting. He was not acting, it was very real.On the other hand, we as freshers had to put hard efforts on the screen. looking at him I wanted to spend the whole time with him. He is calm and humble.

He taught me that to perform a role naturally it is important to understand the same minutely.”Sah’s lead role film ‘Khel Mantra’ directed by Manoj Dawra focusing all about gambling will release after Diwali this year.“My movie Filmistan will be released on June 6. Another movies releasing by this year are Director V Sawant’s Shooter with Randeep Hodda, Neetu Chandra and Sunil Shetty followed by Mitti ka Madho with KK Menon, Jimmy Shergil, Jackie Shroff and Shreya,” said the actor on this year’s big screen projects.
