Disheartened by the recovery of nine live bombs from their area, residents of Hindpiri on Tuesday burnt the effigy of terrorism which has no face and religion. A meeting was also organised in the area to condemn terrorism and a resolution was passed to start an awareness drive so that such shameful incident does not take place again.

“Today we organised meeting with the locals including some intellectuals and ward-commissioners to condemn terrorism. It was also decided to start a special public relation drive against terrorism where the house owners of the area will be told to take a record of those staying on rent in their homes,” said Shamsher Alam, central president of Jharkhand Tanzeem.

According to Alam, the organisation would start door to door campaigns from Wednesday and ask people to immediately inform the police, if someone with suspicious activity is identified by them. “It is those who come from outside, otherwise the locals are more or less of peaceful nature,” he said.

In the second round, drive will be expanded to other Muslim areas like Azad Basti and Doranda. “Monday’s incident has brought disgrace to the whole community and all of us condemn it, he Alam.

The meeting was organized under the banner of Jharkhand Tanzeem, at its office at Hindpiri in Ranchi. Iram lodge however, looked deserted on Tuesday after it was vacated by the police after the recovery of nine live bombs in the lodge. People living in the locality gave a suspicious look to those who visited the area and were reluctant to talk on the issue.

Haider, a suspected I-M operative allegedly involved in Patna blasts was a regular visitor to the lodge. He was also said to be the room partner of Muzibul Ansari. Haider has been identified as Salim with Muzibul as his room partner in a photograph.
