Jharkhand on Sunday took a step ahead in digital revolution launching several mobile Apps and web portals along with development schemes for the people, giving the much needed thrust to e-governance and mobile governance in the State. The 16th Statehood Day was marked with the launch of 14 mobile Apps and three web portals to add to the festivities of the occasion.
In a programme organised at the historic Morhabadi ground of the State capital, Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das unveiled the mobile Apps, web portals along with several development schemes in the presence of MoS Rural Development Sudarshan Bhagat, Cabinet Ministers of the State Government and senior officials.
Exhorting people of the State to use technology for Government and day-to-day work, Das said on the occasion that Jharkhand has registered a great progress in implementation of e-governance project and is shifting its focus to M-governance. "Today, we have android mobile phones in far flung areas. The youth and common man in villages have to come forward and take part in the technological revolution that has started in the country. M-governance is easier and effective to make available services provided by the Government to the common masses. This is why the theme of this year's Foundation Day has been kept as M-governance," he said.
Das added that on the one hand Government work and processes would be made easier through M-governance, while on the other hand it would also be very helpful to curb corruption and ensure transparency in the works undertaken by Government departments and agencies.
The CM expressed happiness that the State has been able to get third spot in the Ease of Doing Business report prepared by World Bank. He said that this was possible only because of a good team work by officials and other decision makers in the Government who could finally bring positive changes by altering norms to decrease unnecessary formalities for investment and business ventures.
Reiterating the Government's resolve to bring transparency and accountability in governance, Das said that by the year 2019 a 'Swachchh Jharkhand' would be built through discipline, transparency and good governance. He stressed on the need of curbing corruption in the State, mentioning the recently restructured Anti-Corruption Bureau.
While presenting a list of works undertaken by the Government, Das also mentioned about the newly formed Anti-Terrorist Squad, Online FIR System, Cyber Crime Police Stations, Operation Muskan, new Surrender Policy for Naxals, relief package for farmers due to drought in the State, other schemes launched in agriculture sector, works in the tourism sector, MoU for Sports University and Sports Academy, recruitment of teachers, policemen and other Government staff, power sector reforms, works in the field of health and nutrition, construction of roads and highways, encouraging use of solar power and direct communication with the people of the State through Jan Samvad.
The CM said that he was here to serve the people of Jharkhand not to rule and his commitment towards developing the state would remain just like Hanuman for lord Rama.
Chief Guest of the function, Governor Droupadi Murmu said that as Jharkhand was entering in the 16th year it becomes very important to give proper orientation to the State. The State is rich in every respect and there are ample opportunities for its development, she added.
The Governor expressed hope that the initiatives taken by the Government would bring affluence for the people of the State and Jharkhand would not only progress rapidly but will also preserve its rich cultural heritage for the coming generations.
Earlier in the morning, the Governor and the CM paid tribute to legendary Bhagwan Birsa Munda, whose birth anniversary was chosen for Statehood Day of Jharkhand. A carnival was organised also in the afternoon to showcase the cultural heritage of the state.
