Jharkhand lovers of artistic gymnastic will now get the chance of witnessing the glamorous sport on live mode as Jharkhand Gymnastic Association will be hosting the 54th Senior Artistic Gymnastic Championship at Ganpat Rai Indoor stadium of Mega Sports Complex (Khelgaon) from June 3 to 5.

Sharing about the details, Jharkhand Gymnastic Association Organising Secretary Dr Rajesh Gupta on Tuesday said that a budget of Rs15 lakh is required for this sports meet. “We will be meeting the State Sports
Minister Geetashree Oraon on Wednesday for providing us financial support. Also, we are lining up with individuals who can sponsor us,” he added.Around seven types of artistic gymnastic are scheduled for women while six types of the same game are scheduled for men. Gupta said that each team will be representing seven players.
Notably, Jharkhand Police won four medals in the All India Police Games 2013 organized at Khelgaon in Ranchi. This encouraged the state association members to take initiative in organising this upcoming national championship.“Despite having a world class sports infrastructure at Khelgaon we lack equipments for gymnastic. The stadium has been used only during National Games 2011and in the Police Games. We have decided to host state and district level gymnastic meets after this championship so that this glamorous game as well as the mentioned stadium is regularly maintained,” said Gupta.
Renowned gymnasts like Ashish Kumar are expected to be here. The accommodation of the players will be done in Khelgaon Residential Complex and in the Sports Hostel. Gupta said the players will arrive on June 2.
