After a 'shocker' it received from the Centre in terms of number of houses under Indira Awas Yojna the Jharkhand Government has again approached Delhi for a course correction. A delegation of the senior officials of the State Government called upon the Ministry of Rural Development for taking the number of units up to two lakhs for the current financial year.
As per the physical target set for 2013-14 Jharkhand had to get 67153 units of rural houses. "For this year, we have got only 49700 units. It is very less in terms of rural houses we need. A delegation went to Delhi and has put forth demand for two lakh new rural houses for the year 2014-15," said Arun, Secretary of Rural Development Department.
The matter has also been raised by Minister for Rural Development KN Tripathi during his meeting with his central counterpart but without any progress so far.
