Anti-Naxal operations among the bordering areas of Bihar will be intensified ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections slated to be held from October 12 to November 5 in five phases. Meetings of senior police officials with their respective counterparts across the border took place recently at various locations in Bihar where Jharkhand Police have assured all possible support to them for conducting free and fair elections in the State.
A meeting was also conducted at Rohtas in Bihar, where the Jharkhand police has assured their counterparts in Bihar to extend all possible support to them for conducting free and fair elections in the state.
“We will be there as a helping hand as we do not have a major role to play during Bihar elections conducting operations this side in coordination with the operations being conducted across the borders. During the joint meeting of senior officials from both sides of the borders in Rohtas, we have assured to provide all support to them,” said Palamu DIG Saket Kumar Singh.
A joint meeting of the senior police officials of Garhwa, Palamu, Rohtas, Aurangabad and Gaya was held in Rohtas where the issue was discussed at large. It was decided during the meeting to conduct parallel operations on both sides of the borders to check their movement across the borders, said Singh.
“We will keep a close eye on the movement of Naxals across the borders which could be possible only through coordination of officer in charge of the respective police stations on both sides of borders,” said Singh. Besides that, check-posts at all vulnerable points will be raised to check movement of anti-social elements during elections, added Singh.
Most important challenging task, according to police officials, is to check movement of rebels across the borders in order to prevent any untoward incident during the elections.
Meanwhile, a similar, meeting was also held in Nawadah in Bihar involving senior officials of both sides to chalk out a roadmap for conducting free and fearful elections in Bihar. It was decided during the meeting that area domination along both sides of borders will be done ahead of elections.
“A meeting with the Zonal IG of Patna was held on 18th of this month where we have assured them to provided full support during elections on the bordering areas and will also step in if required in to maintain peace during the elections,” said Zonal IG of Bokaro Tadasha Mishra.
Although operations have already been started along with the bordering areas, a joint decision has also taken during the meeting to check any sort of movement of anti-social elements across the border during elections, added the IG.
“They requested us to intensify the operations before the polls since all of their posts will be closed two days ahead of the elections making the borders vulnerable for the movement of anti-social elements as well as the red rebels. As per their requests, we will check borders from October 10 itself, not allowing any unwanted person to cross it from any of the sides,” Mishra said.
