Jharkhand chief secretary Sukhdeo Singh suffered a tragedy after his 18-year-old daughter Simar Singh passed away in Delhi on Tuesday night after a brief illness. Sources said that she complained of a headache after which she was hospitalized. She was the youngest among two children of Sukhdeo Singh. She was pursuing graduation at the Amity University in Delhi.

A couple of days back Sukhdeo Singh left for Delhi owing to the health issue of his daughter. Arun Kumar Singh was given additional charge of the chief secretary.

The incident left the bureaucratic circle and his well-wishers saddened. "Sukhdeo Singh is such a gentleman who is God fearing. But God made him suffer today.  She was very loving and academically brilliant. I can't even muster the courage to call him," said a senior bureaucrat.

Last year she suffered from Covid 19 infection and remained under treatment in Ranchi for quite some time. Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais and chief minister Hemant Soren expressed their condolences on the untimely demise of this young girl. The Chief Minister is set to visit Delhi to meet Sukhdeo Singh. Many senior IAS officers are set to go to Delhi including additional chief secretary in charge Arun Kumar Singh, CM's secretary Vinay Choubey, AP Singh, Ajay Kumar Singh, Rahul Sharma, Abu Bakar Siddique, Himani Pandey, Prashant Kumar, Praveen Toppo, Sunil Kumar and others.
