Following the directions of CM Raghubar Das, the State Government is gearing up for beautification of the State capital. Roads and squares will be revamped with plants and streetlights. As of now, the first phase of preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) and floating tender is in process.
“The identified locations cover Albert Ekka Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, Hinoo Chowk, Booty More, Karamtoli Chowk, Kishori Yadav Chowk and Harmu Chowk. Grills will be surrounded around these squares with High Mast lighting under the DPR being prepared for beautifying these locations. Saplings will also be planted,” Urban Development department’s Joint Secretary Vijay Kumar said.
“Similar beautification will be done in three roads of Dhanbad and two roads of Jamshedpur which are outside the jurisdiction of TATA Steel,” added Kumar. The installation of light Emitting Diode (lED) lights is also in process. “The DPR for lED installation in all the 39 Urban local Bodies across the state is yet to be drafted. It will take around one month to complete the draft,” Kumar pointed.
Meanwhile, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has halted the floating of tender for lEDs and Beautification. “Tender for lED was supposed to be floated on Monday. But, it has to be postponed. Even the tender floating for beautification of roads will be delayed. Unless, the vacant post of our Chief Executive Officer is not fulfilled, we are not in a position to continue the tender process,” said an RMC staff on condition of anonymity.
The CM is likely to follow the successful urban projects of Ahmedabad at Ranchi. Kumar who recently visited the ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ fest in Ahmedabad mentioned that Bus Rapid Transit (BRTS) existing in the Gujarat capital will be implemented on the outskirts of Ranchi.
“BRTS will be made between lanes across Ahmedabad city in a radius of 40 kilometres. We are planning to apply the model at the outskirts of Ranchi. The concept will soon be added in the Master plan,” said the Joint Secretary.
According to sources, a technical team from the Government comprising Water Resources Principal Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Rahul Sharma and other experts departed for Ahmedabad on January 19 to observe the ‘lift Irrigation Project’ in the State. “CM is impressed with Gujarat’s Irrigation Project. The departed team will submit a report on the basis of the two day study after returning,” sources said.
