Jharkhand resident Pankaj Dubey is all set to direct a Bollywood movie on his written novel What a loser in English and loser Kahin ka in Hindi languages. launched in January, the novel has recorded “bestsellers category” in the last two months. It is basically on how a loser can be a winner.
“I have intentionally written my book like script of a film so that it is easy for me to make a film on the same theme,” he said.Asked on what difference he finds between writing and film making, he told this correspondent on Monday, “In book you have freedom to express your thoughts freely. But, in visual media, ideas have to be edited according to the budget of the producer.”
Dubey is known for his short films like Naach Ganesh and Wet Dreams directed under his own film production banner “Sadak Chaap”. Also, he is acclaimed for his scriptwriting in Vidya Balan and Imraan Hashmi featured film “Ghanchakkar”.
“I always had an inclination for co-curricular activities than studies. That is the reason I found writing the best career for myself,” he maintained.Speaking about his future projects, he said, “I have written the script for yet to be released movie Chauranga directed by Hazaribagh based film maker Bikas Mishra,” he said.
He added, “I am writing many more fictitious novels which could be made as films.”Focusing on his ongoing film production, Dubey said that Bihar actors are coming more for the main lead role auditions. “The protagonist’s problems mentioned in my novel and film relates almost 33 percent to my own life. For example I find my name boring, so does the hero,” he said on how he is personally associated with this loser concept.
Dubey is shooting the film around the cow belt community of Delhi and Mumbai. “Around 99 percent story of movie will remain same as my novel,” the writer said while showing a trailer of his movie on YouTube.
