Jharkhand State Legal Service Authority (JHALSA) has been adjudged the best State Legal Service Authority of eastern India.
JHALSA secretary AK Rai received the award in a function organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday. Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was chief guest on the occasion.
It may be stated here JHALSA was declared the best SLSA among six states of eastern India including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chattisgarh and Bihar”.
In addition Mangla Dehri from Dumka has secured the best para-legal volunteer award in Eastern India.
Notably JHALSA has involved the panel lawyers to identify children under the sponsorship and foster care under its legal services works.
Moreover, the organization distributed Rs 14 crore among victims of crime and naxal and communal violence in the last two years.
It also composed two songs to educate tribal and marginalized sections of population on legal issue and NALSA programmes.
It organized 100 days padyatra and cycle yatra by panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers to increase visibility of legal services. JHALSA has also been training the children in conflict with law in various trades including sohrai painting, screen painting and computer typing.
