In a bid to eradicate witch-hunting from the society, renowned film maker Prakash Jha has joined hands with Jharkhand legal Services Authority (JHAlSA) and the State Government to shoot a documentary film on witchcraft rampant in the hinterlands of Jharkhand.
Jha along with his team, after successfully shooting a documentary on the joint campaign of JHAlSA and district administration against witchcraft in Khunti on Sunday, also filmed the functioning of lok Adalat and Mediation centre located at Ranchi on Monday.
Jha has been shooting the awareness campaign being conducted in Jharkhand and other parts of the country to eradicate witchcraft and other social evils from the society at the request of National legal Services Authority (NAlSA).
Chief Justice Virender Singh, who was present during the shoot in Khunti on Sunday, said that the anti-witchcraft campaign was being started from the district as most of the cases are registered in the district.
“To eradicate practice of witchcraft from the society, an awareness programme needs to be propagated among the masses. It will need support from the villagers, women, public representatives as well as Para legal Volunteers,” said the Chief Justice.
He said that all should take advantage of the law against practice of Witchcraft and if anybody is branded as a witch, they must inform the police, district administration or legal awareness authority.
Jha also filmed the functioning of lok Adalat at Mediation Centre at Nyaya Sadan in Doranda.
