JDU to continue demanding liquor ban in Jharkhand

State JDU Executive Committee sat on Sunday for one day meeting to discuss roads ahead after party’s central leadership parted way from RJD to form new government in Bihar with help of old friend BJP once again earlier this month. JDU State President Jaleshwar Mahto said that the party would continue advocating pro-people vision like liquor ban in State like Nitish Kumar did in Bihar.

“We are ally with BJP now and a part of larger National Democratic Alliance (NDA). But this doesn’t mean that we forget pro-people vision which we have been advocating since long. We will continue opposing the government if and when required,” said Singh where Bihar government Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar, Jharkhand JDU President Jaleshwar Mahto, In-charge Ramsewak Singh, Co-In-charge Arun Kumar and other senior leaders were also present.

The leadership of party’s Jharkhand wing is also unanimous with thought that Sharad Yadav who shared dais with RJD chief lalu Prasad Yadav in Gandhi Maidan at Patna on Sunday must face the music.

JD-U Rajya Sabha MP Harivansh said during party’s Executive Committee Meeting on the day in State Office that the moment the senior party leader decided to rub shoulders with RJD chief and share dais in ‘BJP Bhagao Desh Bachao’ rally in Patna, he signaled of going out of the party.

“As he has decided to sit with Opposition, central leadership of party will take appropriate disciplinary action against him on right time, most probably sooner than later,” said Harivansh on Sunday.

In a changed scenario after it became partner with BJP, the party is eyeing at expansion in different way. “We have targeted 5 lakh new active members in party across the State. leaders in districts have been asked to form committees down the line up to Panchayat level within a month and we are hopeful of achieving the target. But we are focusing on active members and there is no place for passive members in party anymore,” said Mahto. He also denied any possibility of having representation of party in State Cabinet in changed scenario.

Kumar, on the other hand said that lalu had lost ground completely and the rally which he organised on Sunday was a desperate move to find some ground. Notably, all odds of political rivals like TMC, CPI, National Conference, SP, Congress and others were seen flocking together on the dais in rally staged primarily by RJD where crowd is said to have outnumbered all previous records in Gandhi Maidan.
