Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha has advocated for opening AIIMS in Hazaribagh. He has written a letter to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan citing seven strong reasons for establishing AIIMS in the district.
In his letter, Sinha said that Hazaribagh was known as an educational hub of Jharkhand and State largest university, Vinoba Bhave University, was also situated here.
He further mentioned that the area around Hazaribagh was heavily forested and has a large population of tribals. About 45 per cent of the district was forest area and had an abundance of medicinal plants and trees.
Jayant further pointed out that Hazaribagh had also good connectivity of rail, air and roads.
Advocating about the claim of Hazaribagh for having a hospital like AIIMS he said that being the divisional headquarters of North Chotanagpur division, Hazaribagh was an important location for several nearby districts also.
Sinha said that district administration had already identified several land pieces ranging from 50 to 200 acres in area, where the proposed institute could be established.
Besides this Hazaribagh and Ramgarh districts were witnessing unprecedented industrial growth. There were several existing and upcoming industrial projects which would create thousands of jobs and also increase the demand of advanced medical facilities.
MP wrote that after going through all these the Central Health Minister should finalise the location of AIIMS at Hazaribagh. He has given the copies of this letter to Chief Minister and Health Minister of Jharkhand.
