'Janta Darbar' in offing to resolve civic issues

In a bid to resolve the basic civic issues of different wards ranging from clogged drains to disposal of solid waste, Deputy Mayor Sanjiv Vijayawargia during a press meet organised on Wednesday announced to organize ‘Janta Darbar’ on first Sunday of every month. ‘Janta Darbar’ will be organized from July 7 onwards.  Sharing the details of the proposal, the Deputy Mayor said that 53 wards have been divided into 11 zones.

“Under each zone, 4 to 5 wards are covered. Starting from that specific ward that has least basic civic amenities available by far including quite a number of complaint cases, the ‘Darbar’ will be first organized there. MlAs, Mayor Asha lakra including some eminent persons will be called for interaction with the public. Ward Councilors will be informed to outline the problems of their respective wards in advance,” Vijayawargia added.

The Deputy Mayor informed that the follow-up will be done at a regular interval. During the ‘Janta Darbar’, the officials of Department of Electricity and representatives of PHED Department will be there during the programme to resolve some of the pending issues. Also, application forms for Widow Pension Scheme and for differently-abled will be distributed among the beneficiaries through special camps organized simultaneously with the ‘Darbar’.

Vijayawargia said that the basic purpose is to strengthen the civic amenities of each ward. “In my earlier tenure that ended in April 2018, only two ‘Janta Darbar’ were conducted. Through this, we are again reviving its concept. On the spot live interaction with the public will definitely prove beneficial for both RMC and city residents in bridging the communication gap.”

In the meantime, the Deputy Mayor said that a special team has been constituted who will visit the sites from where water logging has been reported. “The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) is committed to resolve the problem of city residents. A team will be visiting the water logging spots and accordingly steps will be taken to solve it,” Vijayawargia stated.
