'J&K terror strike an attack on democracy'

Continuing his campaign in the poll-bound State, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the terror strikes in Jammu & Kashmir on Friday was a bid to attack Indian democracy but brave jawans sacrificed their lives protecting the country’s security.

Addressing a massive election rally here, the Prime Minister paid tributes to the martyrs of the Friday attack in J&K, particularly brave son of Jharkhand, lt’ Col. Sankalp Kumar Shukla, who lost his life for the security of the nation and added that Jharkhand will remember his martyrdom forever.

Kashmir Valley was yesterday rocked by four attacks by militants from across the border, who stormed an army camp in Uri leaving 11 security personnel including lt Colonel Sankalp dead and killed two civilians in Tral.

Overwhelmed with a cheering huge crowd (double than the one he had addressed during the lok Sabha elections) at Matwari ground, Modi said that the number speaks that people are going to close the shops of all those who had cheated and looted them in the past.

Apparently updated that he was campaigning in the constituencies where more than tribal-non-tribal issues, the caste factor plays a major role during elections, the Prime Minister exhorted them to shun politics of caste and nepotism and vote for development.

“We have had enough of caste politics and nepotism. It's time for politics of development. Those who had to loot, have looted to the optimum level. We will do politics of development. We will give you a government committed for development, we should evaluate a government on the basis of development. Politics on the basis of caste and religion will not be allowed," he maintained.

The State is in the midst of five-phase polls, the third phase of which for 17 seats spread across North Chotanagpur and areas bordering Bihar will be held on December 9.

Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha, former CM Arjun Munda, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha among other leaders of the BJP were present during the occasion.

The Prime Minister said that Jharkhand can prosper only by proper utilization of natural resources, and we will do it. “Development will create opportunities in the State and people from other states will come here to earn their bread instead of people from Jharkhand traversing hundreds of miles leaving behind their aging parents in villages.

“After 30 years we have a strong and stable Government in Delhi. Jharkhand has played an important role in it. This is the land of the brave Birsa Munda. You have saved the country, now it is your responsibility to save Jharkhand," said Modi.

The Prime Minister made a very strong appeal to the people of Jharkhand to end the corruption that is prevalent in the state. He also urged them to end coalition politics in the State. “Now, Jharkhand does not want coalition governments. These coalition deals are very costly and no good comes out of it,” he maintained.

Modi said, “You have a lot of things. What you need is someone to live for you, someone to work for you and someone who will work for your well-being for life. Such is the government you need.” He added, “As CM, I would be envious of Jharkhand. In Gujarat we had desert and salt while Jharkhand has lush green forests, coal & iron ore.”

He said he wanted to change the situation in the State by providing education and employment by setting up factories, making water available and providing electricity to villages.

Urging people to vote for BJP in the on-going assembly polls, the Prime Minister said that if the party came to power not only the state government but also the Centre would work for Jharkhand’s development.

During his speech, the PM also talked about the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and how it will help the farmers of the State. He shared how the Jan Dhan Yojana will touch the lives of the poor and opened the doors of banks for the poor. He also spoke on the decision in the coal sector taken by the Centre that will benefit Jharkhand.
