It’s more than three weeks since Vinod Agrawal (44) was shot dead by assailants on a motorcycle, in front of Tube Company on the Burmamines-Sakchi Road.  The night of June 21 is long past but the killers roam free, several suspects have been rounded up and are being interrogated. Police are said to have made a prize catch but are tight-lipped.

All City SP Kartik S had to say was, “There is significant progress in the rice trader’s murder case, but at the moment it will not be proper to disclose anything. We are hopeful the case will be solved soon.”

A senior investigating officer, on conditions of anonymity, said one of the culprits had been picked up and a team sent to Bihar to nab the other one. East Singhbhum SSP Richard lakra said all attempts were being made to solve the case as soon as possible.

Agrawal was a resident of Sidhgora and ran a grocery shop at Golmuri market. He had died of gunshot injuries in the wee hours of June 22. His attackers had looted Rs 4 lakh from him while he was returning home from the Parsudih-based Krishi Bazar Samiti, a wholesale marketplace, where he had a shop.
