Tata Group chairman Cyrus P Mistry on Tuesday said that Tata Steel is committed for improving the living condition of people in the Steel City and steps are being taken in this regard.
Addressing the 176th birth anniversary function of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, celebrated as Founder’s Day, Mistry said : “He (Tata) looked at the community is not just another stakeholder in business, but is in fact the very purpose of its existence..”
Extending his wishes to the citizens at a gathering near JN Tata’s bust at Bistupur Postal Park, he noted: “ I am happy to be here, the company has taken up projects for improving 22 roads in city and recycling 100 per cent collected sewage which will be used for horticulture and industrial requirements.
In his statement he said: “I am delighted and honoured to be here in Jamshedpur on the occasion of the 176th birth anniversary of our founder. On this day, we cherish the memory of Jamsetji Tata and resolve to live up to his high ideals in the growth of Tata companies here and elsewhere in the world. This also happens to be the year in which Tata Power, another of our founder’s visionary projects which is one of the key energy suppliers to Jamshedpur, observes its 100th anniversary.
The core of Jamsetji Tata’s business philosophy was the conviction that the community is not just another stakeholder in business but is, in fact, the very purpose of its existence. Tata Steel’s commitment to Jamshedpur reflects that belief.
I am happy that, in keeping with its traditions, the Company has taken up projects for improving 22 roads in the city and recycling 100% collected sewage which will be used for horticulture and for industrial requirements. I congratulate the companies in their accomplishments and urge all Tata colleagues to continue to serve the citizenry in an exemplary manner”.
