Prime accused in a terrorist attack on American Centre in Kolkata on January 22, 2002, Jamaluddin Nasir was produced in a court before the district and session judge of Hazaribagh Justice VK Sahay on Monday.
Kolkata police brought him to Hazaribagh complying with the production warrant issued by the court in case no. 39/2002 of Sadar Police Station, Hazaribagh. Nasir was taken back to Kolkata after being produced in the court.
According to police sources Jamaluddin Nasir is the prime accused in an attack on American Center in Kolkata. His name is in the case no. 39/2002 lodged in Hazaibagh Sadar PS by the team of NSG on 28th January 2002.
On 28th January 2002 a team of NSG had raided a house of local Khirgaon Muhalla in search of culprits of attack on American Center, Kolkata. Two accused namely Idrish and Salim lost their lives in an encounter with NSG during the raid while Nasir managed to escape.
In 2008 terrorist Jamaluddin Nasir was arrested and since then he is in judicial custody at Alipur Jail, Kolkata. Since the case of encounter and other raids related with the case were also registered here at Hazaribagh the court had issued his production warrant.
In 2002 the team of NSG had arrived to Hazaribagh in search of the accused in the terrorist attack after getting concrete information about their links with Hazaribagh. In the morning of 28th January 2002 everyone of the town got stunned when they heard about the encounter and death of two prime accused of this case who were residing here since last few months.
later on the team of NSG with the help of Hazaribagh police had raided many spots of the town where the accused used to visit regularly and found important clues and proofs. On the basis of these clues and proofs the NSG finally identified all the persons involved in that terrorist attack.
