Teddy Bear attracts all age group people and this is the reason why it is one of the most demanding items across the world. Now people of Hazaribagh will get teddy bear made at Jai Prakash Narayan Central jail and that too by women inmates. Jail superintendent Hamid Akhtar said arrangements going on to impart training to 110-women inmates in this regard in coming days.
Akhtar said that making teddy bear is not tough and needs a week’s training. He said he want to provide this training to women inmates so that they can earn their livelihood easily after getting released from prison. Akhtar said male inmates are making number of items which included daily use articles, which they were sending to local markets. He said, even at two points of the jail road, these articles are made available and people purchasing it.
He said once women will start making teddy bears, they will also do the same for them also.
Jail sources said making teddy bear is not a costly affair but it gets good return once ready. They said teddy bear is of various colour and size and cheaper one costs Rs 50 to Rs150. They said plan is to give training to women inmates to make decorative items like flower pots.
At present, jail has 110 women inmates. Akhtar said they are in search of a good trainer, after which training will start here.
