Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will re-check the papers of top 20 candidates of all the three streams who took Intermediate examination in March 2016, before revealing their names officially. Every year, the toppers are felicitated by the examination conducting body and other dignitaries on September 2, the day on which the council came into existence.
Although many assume the action as fallout of the recent controversy in Bihar, the officials and JAC Chairperson denied that scrutinising work had anything to do with it. They termed the entire procedure a routine work.
“The copies of top 20 toppers are scrutinised every year, before revealing the names of the candidates formally. It is just a routine task and the staffs involved in it, carry the process every year. This is being done to ensure the credibility and check all mandatory details of the candidates to avoid confusion at eleventh hour,” said, JAC Chairperson, Arvind Prasad Singh.
“The process is part and partial of the council’s job and it has nothing to do with Bihar controversy. We are asked to assure every minute detail, as the sole responsibility of conducting exams and publishing results lie with the council. We are just not answerable to the authorities but our responsibilities are extended towards the students and guardians too. Moreover, in the stimulated time frame the process will be completed to avoid further delay,” added Singh.
According to the official figures released by JAC, results of both Matric and Inter have gone down this year. Notably, the figure depicts that approximately 400 students of Intermediate science stream have scored zero in mathematics paper this year. Few students just managed to score the pass marks in the board exam.
In Intermediate Science and Commerce examination girls clinched better position in comparison to boys in both the streams but the pass percentage has comparatively gone down in comparison to other years. In science stream boys secured 57.79 per cent pass percentage whereas girls secured 59.90 per cent pass percentage. On the other hand, in commerce stream, girls secured 71.92 per cent pass percentage which far ahead then boys who just manage to score 57.04 per cent pass percentage in inter board exams.
Intermediate Arts stream results are yet to be declared and according to the JAC officials, on June 9 intermediate arts results are likely to be announced.
