JAC obeys HC order on TET candidates

Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Saturday decided to follow High Court’s instruction on reviewing the answer sheets of around 30,000 Teacher’s Eligibility Test (TET) candidates who were rejected in the last held TET due to technical flaws.

JAC had claimed that the result of this TET was declared with fairness for the first time in Jharkhand on May 28. But, on May 29 the above mentioned number of candidates had demonstrated in front of JAC officials and then knocked the doors of High Court for rejection of their answer sheets given as OMR sheets due to technical faults.

“We will request the State Human Resources department to give us sufficient time for this reviewing process,” said JAC Joint Secretary Arvind Kumar K Jha.

According to sources, more than 1.5 lakh candidates had appeared for TET, held on April 26 this year, but approximately 60,000 managed to pass the exam.

The glitches involved mistakes like error in allotted roll numbers and invalid subject codes of the candidates.

On these allegations, JAC Chairperson Dr Anand Bhushan had then asked these candidates to file written complaints after which he would look into the matter.

The Council also approved recognition of six colleges, nine schools, four madarsas and one Sanskrit school.

Jha said that the service conditions of this autonomous education body of state government were discussed in details today. He mentioned, “Now our employees will get timely payment equivalent to that of secretariat staffs.”

“This is with effect to employees who are to get allowances since January 1, 2006,” he added.

Notably, the discussion cum decision of this service conditions had been a pending demands of the JAC people. A staff said, “We are happy that our administration has finally taken our matters of pending promotion, arrears, and allowances seriously.”
