The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Tuesday cancelled affiliation of 55 Inter Colleges functioning across the State. The decision was taken in the board meeting conducted on Tuesday after seeking the report from Deputy Commissioners of all the 24 districts. JAC Chairperson, Arvind Prasad Singh and other members of the JAC Board unanimously decided to terminate the affiliation of 55 Inter colleges.

“After the orders from Secretary, School Education and literacy, Aradhana Patnaik, JAC had sent the notices to 224 colleges and had asked the officials to submit the report. After carrying out inspection at the 224 colleges, it was found that 55 inter colleges are functioning in the absence of basic amenities and are unable to provide quality education to children,” said JAC Secretary, Ranjikant.

“At few colleges even proper bench desk was also not available. The inspection was carried out under the set guidelines and under district commissioner’s supervision. Under few set parameters like presence of the students, student-teacher ratio, condition of laboratories etc the inspection was done,” added Ranjikant.

In another major decision, the JAC board has passed a budget of Rs. 100 crore to be utilized in the financial year 2016-2017 majorly for conducting examination, meeting establishment expenses including teachers training programme besides other miscellaneous activities. The board further approved the rules and regulation of conducting exams and carrying out other proceedings of the Indira Gandhi Awasiy Vidyalaya, Hazaribagh.

In the presence of all the board members, JAC took six Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) colleges into its purview. “The examination conducting body has taken six B.EI.ED colleges in its purview and now all these colleges will function as per the directives issued by JAC,” added the JAC Secretary.

Meanwhile, JAC chairperson, Arvind Prasad Singh has said that soon answer sheets of toppers will be evaluated by the teachers. “All arrangements are being made and soon evaluation of answer sheets of all the toppers will be complete. This is a normal routine work before announcing the results,” added the Chairperson.
