A day after the brainstorming session organised by the party that decided to hit the roads of the State with series public relation yatras Congress Ministers and its workers chalked out similar plans. The exercise is significant in the wake of upcoming Assembly polls.
First Rural Development Minister KN Tripathi would along with his Department officials start ‘jan sampark yatra’ covering all the 24 districts from June 25. About a month long yatra would take up issues concerning common man, hold janta darbars, and listen to the panchayat representatives and women of self-help groups.
“Problems of the people would be dealt by having firsthand experience and direct consultation with them. We have lots of issues concerning rural elected representatives. The Department officials would listen to their problems and apprise them about their rights. I will also sit with the SHGs, trade union representatives,” said Tripathi.
Notably, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sukhdeo Bhagat had announced a two-month-long ‘padyatra’ across the State to improve the public relation of the party ahead of the polls. The Congress had fared badly in the parliamentary polls and is under pressure to improve its tally in the State.
Whereas Other Backward Class cell of the party under its minimum programme would start a ‘gram samvad yatra’ from Bahragora. The yatra would be conducted blockwise in every district.
“During the yatra we would take feedback from the villagers and inform them about the scheme lunched by the party when in power. The consultation would be door to door,” said Manoj Yadav, working president of the OBC cell on Thursday.
The party has also planned to go aggressively in membership drive and set target to make at least 100 members every month from each district.
The workers would also use RTI extensively in order to get information regarding welfare schemes.
